Linebaugh Public Library is pleased to host author, Julie Hedgepeth Williams, on Thursday, November 15, at 11 a.m. in the upstairs Reading Room. Williams is the author of the book, A Rare Titanic Family: The Caldwells’ Story of Survival, published by NewSouth Books in 2012.
In her work, Williams shares the first-hand account of her great-uncle, Albert Caldwell, who, at age 26, survived the sinking of the Titanic on April 15, 1912, along with his wife, Sylvia and their infant son, Alden. Albert, who lived to be 91, told the story of the Titanic to his grand niece dozens of times.
Carol Ghattas, Branch Librarian of Linebaugh, is excited for our community to be able to enjoy such a rare opportunity to hear true-life accounts of the Titanic. “As the 100th anniversary of the sinking of this great ship has just occurred in April of this year, I am very pleased that we will be able to hear stories of three of her survivors.”
Williams will be sharing pictures as well as the story of that fateful day during her presentation. She will also have copies of her book for purchase and signing. This event is free and open to the public.
